THE CROCHET COUNSELLOR
My name is Maureen Bell (she/her/hers) and I live on the lands that are now called New Brunswick which is the home of the Wolastoqiyik, Maliseet and Mi’kmaq Indigenous people. As a third generation immigrant whose ancestors came to this country voluntarily to escape anti-semitism and religious persecution, I acknowledge the privilege of my ancestors being accepted into this country while acknowledging their contribution to colonized practices. I walk humbly on these unceded traditional lands of Turtle Island.
I completed my Bachelor of Science with a major in Biology and have obtained my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. I am a Licensed Counselling Therapist Candidate in New Brunswick (LCT-C23-012) and a Canadian Certified Counsellor (10009468). In addition, I am presently a certified vocational rehabilitation professional through the College of Vocational Rehabilitation Professionals (CVRP #1612). I am currently completing training in animal assisted wellness to integrate animals into my therapy work in the near future.
I offer individual sessions (18+) for 30 or 60 minutes via telephone or video.
In person sessions available in Hampton, NB.
Just as every loop in crochet holds its place in the larger design, every conversation, every revelation in therapy holds significance in your path to understanding and growth. At Bell Counselling Services, we believe in making therapy accessible and inclusive. It’s a place where you’re welcomed as you are, without the need for pretense or formality. We understand that each person’s journey is unique, and we’re here to offer support and understanding every step of the way.
Maureen creates a space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings openly, with a focus on clear and straightforward communication. It’s therapy that’s relatable and real. We know that starting therapy can be daunting, so we make it a point to explain what you can expect right from the start. Whether you’re dealing with life transitions, neurodiversity, trauma, or just seeking a clearer understanding of yourself, our approach is collaborative and client-led. We believe in giving you choices, respecting your autonomy, and ensuring that your voice is heard.
Maureen’s sessions are a balance of her professional insights and a touch of her personal experience, offering a blend of education and empathy without ever feeling overwhelming or condescending. Bell Counselling Services is about finding your path and walking it at your pace. We value authenticity, both in our approach to therapy and in how we engage with you.
This is a space where professionalism meets warmth, where education and information are delivered in a way that’s easy to understand and relate to. Here, every stitch counts, every story matters, and you’re encouraged to advocate for yourself, with Maureen as your guide and ally. It’s not just about navigating challenges; it’s about embracing your journey and celebrating your growth.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING A SESSION
Our sessions together will integrate a variety of techniques. I utilize person-centered, strengths-based, motivational interviewing and somatic approaches. I believe that people are the experts of their own lives. Each one of us has a unique story and journey and as such, our sessions will be created collaboratively with your input always taking the lead.
You will often find me crocheting during session as it helps keep me grounded. Crocheting allows me to be fully immersed and engaged during our sessions together. Occasionally, you may also get a sneak peek of some of my handmade crochet critters!
